About Us

How we started and
Why we do this

I spent 20 years in the Marine Corps, and I was attached to reserve unit two times during my career. The reserve units do The Toys for Tots program starting in November running through Christmas. One year I had paperwork for two different families with seven kids between them. I asked them for a little more information so I could help them better. I found out one lady’s husband had just left and she had no support for kids and the other family had the husband deployed overseas. I talked to the Marines and we went and pulled a bunch of toys and bicycles. I asked them pull around back so we could help them load their car.  We had the bay door closed so they could not see what we had waiting for them. When we open the door, they started crying as they knew that they were going to be able to have Christmas for their kids. They went and hugged everybody to say thank you for helping save their Christmas.

That always stuck with me as to how we helped save Christmas for those families. In 2013, I talked to some friends and we put together a small ride. We had 30 motorcycles,  and we took a ride to Miramar National Cemetery to pay our respects since it was Veterans Day weekend, then we went over to the Marine reserve center at Miramar to drop the toys off to the Marines. The event itself has grown from 30 motorcycles that first year in 2013, and has grown all the way up to 250 to 300 motorcycles. We have also had a Jeep Club, Corvette Club and other Car Clubs join in. We are now the largest single day Toy for Tots event in San Diego and have raised over $173,000 and more than 17,000 toys.
